There’s purpose in the hidden season.

There’s purpose in the hidden season.
“It was by faith that Moses’ parents hid him for three months when he was born. They saw that God had given them an unusual child, and they were not afraid to disobey the king’s command.”
Hebrews 11:23 NLT
I remember sitting in ministry settings watching God use other people and quietly thinking, God, when will You use me like that? I loved Him and I wanted to serve Him, but I felt hidden. I wasn’t making the impact I thought I should be making, and it seemed like the potential I sensed inside of me had nowhere to go.
Looking back, I realize something important was forming. I wanted God to minister through me, but first God needed to minister to me.
He had to heal places in my heart, shape my character, and teach me to depend on Him instead of affirmation. And honestly, He is still doing that. That process does not really end. God is never trying to hold us back. He is patiently forming us so what He gives us later will not crush us.
I honestly feel like I’m in a hidden season right now. God has brought our family to a place we’ve never lived, to people we’ve never met, to start a church that has never existed. At times we feel tucked away in this region, but I trust He is working even when it is quiet. God has a plan, and His timing is always perfect.
Hebrews 11:23 stood out to me because Moses was hidden on purpose. Yes, it protected his life, but it was more than survival. He was not just a baby in hiding. He was a deliverer in development.
His parents sensed there was something significant about him before he ever did anything impressive. Before miracles. Before leadership. Before influence. And because of that, they covered him.
Sometimes God does the same with us.
There are seasons where God allows our lives to feel small, quiet, and even unnoticed. We assume something is wrong, or that we missed God. But often God is not delaying your assignment. He is preparing you for it.
The hidden season is not a wasted season. It is a preparation season.
You see this pattern throughout Scripture.
David was hidden in a field before he was a king.
Joseph was hidden in a pit, a servant’s house, and a prison before he was a ruler.
Jesus lived in quiet obscurity until He was 30 before His ministry was revealed.
God had a process for Moses too:
Hidden in the house (0–3 months) preservation
Hidden in Pharaoh’s palace (40 years) education
Hidden in the Midian desert (40 years) transformation
In hidden seasons you may feel:
• overlooked
• unnoticed
• delayed
• forgotten
• disconnected from influence
But God has not stepped away from you. He is actually closer than you think.
In these seasons He shapes your heart. Pride is softened. Self reliance weakens. Humility and deep dependence on Him begin to grow. He is building a foundation strong enough to carry the weight of your calling.
Hidden seasons are not a detour from your calling.
They are often the most important part of it.
The same Moses who was once concealed eventually stood before Pharaoh. God knew exactly when to reveal him. And God knows exactly where you are too. You are not forgotten. You are being prepared.
I once heard someone say life does not just have four seasons, it actually has five. The fifth is called “due season.” It is the moment when God chooses to reveal what He has been quietly forming. It is when preparation begins to make sense and long prayers start finding their answers.
I truly believe the hidden season is never the final chapter. There comes a time when God, in His wisdom and kindness, brings things into the light at the right moment.
You may be closer to that moment than you realize. This next season you are walking into may very well be your due season.
My top 5 takeaways..
1. God hides you not to sideline you, but to prepare you for what you could not yet carry.
2. Before God ministers through you, He almost always ministers deeply to you.
3. Hidden seasons are not God’s delay, they are God’s development.
4. When your life feels small and quiet, heaven is often doing its most important work.
5. Due season is the moment God reveals what He has been faithfully forming in secret.
